Bulgaria’s state budget at end-March 2015 registers an excess of BGN 250 million, according to preliminary data of the Finance Ministry, cited by Capital Daily. The income is higher by BGN 1.2 billion, which is an increase of 15% – there are more taxes paid and payments made by the EU under its operational programmes in comparison with the first three months of 2014. And while the collectability of taxes is increasing, there are no signs of shrinking in the state’s expenses.
Last year the first quarter ended with a budget deficit of BGN 865 million and now is the first time since 2009 that the first quarter’s results show higher income than expenses.
